从初一开始，我的英语成绩就一直是班里的佼佼者。英语成绩从来没差过的`我完全沾了英语的光：如果没有英语，我可能直接就排到班级的末数了。可是，偏偏就发生了意外。在初二的寒假中，中国突遭疫情侵袭，而我就不得不在家上起了网课。网课结束后就开学了，我的英语大不如前。

第一次月考，我的英语在满分120的卷子中只得了81分。要知道，以前我的英语从未低于110分！我原本十分自信，现在一记重锤砸在心间，再也抬不起头了。老师看着我萎靡不振的样子，很是担心。办公室成了我最常去的圣地。老师得知，我是因为英语成绩的事而伤心，便安慰我。我也看到了一丝希望的曙光——期末考试要一鸣惊人！不要再给自己抹黑了！

期末考试的成绩很快出来了——我只考了90分！我再也不淡定了，只觉得人生一片黑暗，并觉得自己无可救药了。这次的打击对我来是太大，作为一名英语课代表，我先别说帮其他同学了，现在连自己的成绩也提不上来。最主要的是，我的阅读理解竟然丢了14分！有一句话叫：“得阅读者得天下”。现在，我把“天下”给丢了。

母亲得知这件事后，也来安慰我。并给我推荐了一个方法——背诵英语词典，却被我一口拒绝。可到了夜深人静之时，我又仔细的想了想，发现母亲说的并不是完全没理。我为什么阅读理解不好？因为单词不认识。如果一句话中的单词我都认识，那么句意也就摸得八九不离十了。可如果一堆单词都不认识的话，那除了干瞪眼还能干什么？

不为别人，只为自己。于是，我下定决心，一天一定要背三页词典。使自己的词汇由窄小、肤浅、湍急的小河变成宽阔、深沉、平静的海洋。从而提高英语。母亲给我制定了三项计划：一、早读到班上利用好时间，在老师未到前每天读三页英语词典。二、因为暑假七、八单元未复习，中午把七、八单元听语音并争取读背熟。三、晚上做一或两篇拉网的阅读理解。
